Bede's School – Graduate Assistant Chaplain Bede's is a place where every pupil is truly treated as an individual and where we enrich young people in a holistic way - not only for success in the material sense but in ways which enable them to flourish meaningfully, as rounded human beings. The current Chaplain, Rev Tim Buckler, was appointed in 2013 as the first full-time School Chaplain and has overseen significant and exciting development in many areas of school life – not all of which fall under the traditional understanding of the role of ‘Chaplain’. Ordained into the Anglican Church of Kenya in 2009 and licensed into the Diocese of Chichester in 2015, Rev Buckler’s work has to this point, concentrated mainly at the Senior School but we are now looking to embed and develop Chaplaincy into the rest of the school. The opportunity for this growth has come about as a result of school’s passionate belief in the centrality of all that is ‘spiritual’ (in the broader definition of the word). This includes an active interest in the nature of faith, human purpose and meaning and an engagement in opportunities that draw one to encounter the awe and wonder of life, both during times alone as well as through the richness of community. Bede’s is a school that cares deeply for our pupils and staff alike. To apply for this position please complete the attached application form and send this to recruitment@bedes.org Bede's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
